The Benefits of Full-Service Interior Design – Is It the Right Fit for You?
Even for the most devout DIYers, a major home renovation can feel daunting. You have plenty of ideas and tons of inspiration, but where do you actually start? And how do you bring all of the components together? With full-service interior design!
There are plenty of options when looking to hire interior design help. Virtual consultations, by-the-hour design services, and decorators are all options. But if you’re looking for a space that’s beautiful, functional, built to last, and thoughtfully created to make your life at home filled with ease and intuitively support your lifestyle – full-service interior design is the perfect option.
As a studio that provides full service interior design in Sedona, I thought I’d take a moment to outline what it actually means!
What is full-service interior design?
Full service interior design, also known as turn-key design, is an all-in-one, end-to-end interior design process. You’re hiring an expert to manage your entire interior project from start to finish. It’s perfect for you if you don’t have the time, energy, or desire to figure out your floor plans, spend hours browsing furniture and paint colors, coordinate deliveries, and oversee installations.
Turn-key interior design starts with understanding your ideas, taste, and needs, and ends with you turning the key in your door and walking into a ready-to-live space that’s been intentionally designed to bring it all to life. Your designer is there every step of the way, from black & white drawings to the final placement of the last pillow.
Is full-service interior design a good fit for you?
Turn-key interior design is a perfect option for you if -
-
You’re ready to go beyond DIY and get a luxurious, expertly-designed space that’s specifically designed to cater to your family’s needs
-
You’re busy and don’t have the bandwidth or time to manage months of design directions and coordinating installs and deliveries
-
You want your home to be a unique expression of you and your taste – not a cookie-cutter space that looks like everyone else’s
What does a full-service interior design package include?
Full-service design means exactly what it sounds like! Your entire project is managed by your designer, from start to finish. This includes initial creative direction and designing floor plans, curating & sourcing materials and furnishings, coordinating deliveries, overseeing installations, collaborating with your architect and general contractor, and styling your space so that you walk through the door to an entirely finished home.
The benefits of full-service interior design
1. Save yourself stress & headaches
Beyond just the beautiful final result, the biggest benefit of working with a full-service design studio is the time and energy it saves you. A designer makes your life easier by working on everything for you behind the scenes. We don’t just source all the elements for your home (tiling, cabinetry, flooring, furniture, appliances, etc.) – we also handle the procurement process from the point of purchase to delivery and on-site installation.
No stressing about tracking deliveries, or rushing from work to be home during a fridge installation. No worrying if you’ve overlooked a detail or measured a piece of furniture correctly. We do it all for you.
2. Access resources & materials that aren’t available to the public
One of the aspects you’re investing in when you hire a full-service interior designer is something that money can’t buy – our years of building partnerships and connections with the best trade vendors, contractors, and skilled craftsmen.
There are many products that you can’t find at Design Within Reach or Crate & Barrel. To-the-Trade vendors partner directly with interior designers and professionals, only selling products through us that never get sold through traditional retailers.
In addition to these exclusive products, we also provide recommendations and resources for working with contractors and architects that we’ve already vetted or worked with, so it’s easier for you to find trustworthy electricians, plumbers, handymen, and more.

3. Expert experience results in an intuitively-designed and a comfortable home
We think through every detail and know to look for things you wouldn’t think of – like the right rug pad thickness for each of your area rugs, kitchen lighting that’s beautiful and functional when you’re entertaining, or furniture that wears gracefully (even with kids and pets!). These tiny details are the things that make your home effortlessly comfortable and intuitively designed. It’s one thing to have a home that looks beautiful. It’s another to live in a home that beautifully supports your ideal life.
4. Interior design is way more than just paint & furniture
The aesthetic aspects are just one component of interior design. Don’t confuse interior designers with interior decorators! New furniture can freshen up a space, but only full-service design can entirely transform a space.
As an educated and experienced interior designer, I’m able to ‘speak the same language’ as architects and contractors – meaning that I look at your home with structure, plumbing, millwork, lighting, wall finishes, and layout in mind. And because of that, I’m able to design, communicate ideas, and collaborate on major design projects efficiently and effectively, and problem-solve issues before they even occur.
5. Come home to a space that’s uniquely yours
Our job as a full service interior design firm isn’t to take your Pinterest board and copy/paste it into your space. Our goal is to help you transform your taste and inspiration into a practical, livable space that doesn't look like anyone else’s.
A designer’s eye can help you see possibilities that you never could have imagined otherwise, and help you discover materials, furnishings, and aesthetics that you’ll fall in love with.
The interior design process
Design Direction
We’ll begin with a conversation about your goals, what inspires you, and what you need out of your space. Do you love to entertain? Will you need kid-friendly and pet-friendly materials? Does your property have beautiful Sedona views that you want to highlight? Are we prioritizing lots of natural light sources for your enviable house plant collection?
Design Development
Once we’ve decided on the goals, creative direction, and the scope of your project, we’ll begin drafting 2D drawings and selecting materials to bring your design to life. We’ll review each step of the process so you can see how each finish, color, and fixture works together to create a cohesive look.
Furnishing Selections
We’ll curate a selection of furnishings based on your project, so you can select from a beautiful collection of furniture, lighting, textiles, and artwork that we’ve carefully selected to work in your space. We’ll handle the ordering, delivery, and installation for you!
Design Management
Your general contractor is responsible for your project schedule, but during construction we liaise with contractors and make site visits to help answer installation questions, stay on track with your design aesthetic, and complete quality checks.
Installation & Punch List
We’ll make sure your space is completely finished, so you can turn the key and immediately begin living in your space! We’ll unbox each piece of furniture, hang every piece of art, and make sure each pillow is carefully placed – with quality checks along the way to make sure everything has arrived in perfect condition.
